Adams was the youngest of seven children who lived as a child in Colorado's Castle Rock. She was born while her father was employed by the U.S. Military in Italy. The mid-1990s saw her begin doing professional dance and performance at Boulder's Dinner Theatre in Colorado and Country Dinner Playhouse. She then moved to Minnesota and was made a part of Drop Dead Gorgeous, a mock documentarian film about beauty contests. Then, in Los Angeles, she pursued acting after her debut film in which she played an uneasy but fun contestant. The couple also had children Kelly Curtis, Jamie Lee Curtis. Leigh's career in film began in the late 1940s after she was accepted by MGM. The actress was discovered by Norma Shearer. She appeared in a range of films that became popular over the following decade, such as Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho (from 1960) as well as Living It Up (1954), starring Martin Lewis.
