Richard B. Cheney is a distinguished American public servant, businessman and politician. Cheney was well-known in Washington's political scene. George W. Bush will be the fourth U.S. President. Bush selected Cheney during the summer of 2000 to be his vice-presidential running partner, being impressed by Cheney's intelligence and judgement. Dick Cheney was a chief of staff to presidents. He also was a member of the United States Congress as Secretary of Defense, and served the country in a variety of roles. Both Republicans as well as Democrats appreciate his honesty. Cheney has said that the position he will play within the administration as one of a frank but discreet adviser to Bush. Cheney accepted his appointment as Republican vice president that he hopes to work with a presidential candidate who is willing to be a cross-partisan collaborator and work with political rivals with respect and in a common goal. Richard Bruce Cheney was born in Lincoln Nebraska on January 30 1941. He was the son of Richard Herbert Cheney and the former Marjorie Lauraine Dickey. In 1941, when Richard Bruce Cheney was 13 the family of Richard Bruce Cheney left Lincoln Nebraska and moved to Casper Wyoming in the state where his father was the head of Casper Wyoming, where his father was the director of U.S. Department of Agriculture's regional conservation districts.
